Video
Inspiration
When
creating my video there were several other videos that inspired it such as ‘Kung
Fury’ which is a 70’s inspired spoof of the ‘buddy cop’ and ‘marital art’ films
which were popular at the time, much like how my film was intended to be a
parody of B-movies as well as films which have an unstoppable main character. The
short film uses tropes which were common in
the original films as well as takes the look of sci-fi films such as bright
neon lights, much like how when adding in effects to the original film I tried
to make the laser shots seem like they were in the original film as well as be inspired
how the effects would be done in a more extreme way such as when people are
killed by the laser they explode.
My video
was also inspired by the ‘VHS boom’ where many low budget films were released
on the format en masse in which the films would be about everything and
anything, the main genre that came out of this which inspired my video is the monster/action
films much like the ones that came out of Italy which usually have a poor
rubber suited monster as the big bad of the film which I referenced when Rob
shoots things from other films I included the giant Lobster monster which
appeared at the end of ‘Teenagers from space’.
