Jamie Shovlin
Jamie Shovlin is a British conceptual artist who has
written the book ‘Various Arrangements’ as
well as created the film ‘Hiker Meat’. Jamie Shovlin’s other work includes ‘Naomi
V Jelish’ which was about the fictional character of Naomi V Jelish who disappeared
in 1991 in which he created various drawings, photographs and newspaper
clippings to create a story based on her life.
'Hiker Meat' is an exploitation film which never actually existed, it was directed by the fictional Italian Jesus Rinzoli, this references the low budget gore filled slasher films which came from Italy during the 70's and 80's referred to as 'Giallo Films' such as 'Cannibal Holocaust'
During production of ‘Hiker Meat’ Shovlin created a prototype film by
collaging over 1500 clips from existing exploitation films, this is similar to
what I will be doing with my video by collaging two films together to create a narrative
between them.
