VHS 'Boom'

VHS ‘Boom’

During the life cycle of VHS tapes low budget studios would release their films straight to video, VHS tapes were the chosen format for the releases due to camcorders being able to record onto tapes rather than use the more expensive film cameras which higher budget/Hollywood films used at the time.

The films would often have a cover which wouldn’t represent the film accurately to try and attract an audience for example monster movies may have a cover which shows a completely different monster design to the one found in the film.

This ‘boom’ of low budget films was an inspiration to my film as I tried to style my video after these sorts of films which usually had loose plotlines, unfinished subplots and underdeveloped characters.
